World Planning Day 2020 To Cast Spotlight on Planning Implementation
 
EThekwini Municipality cordially invites you to be part of the World Town Planning Day 2020 taking place on 4 to 6 November 2020. Experts from around the world will be among other things, analysing how planning implementation affects communities. The city is expected to shed some light on the strides that it has made to date, to eradicate vestiges of apartheid spatial planning.
 
The global event will be held virtually and is aimed at advancing public and professional interest within the planning profession as well as giving recognition to the ideals of community planning, which brings professional planners and communities together.
 
Speakers’ discussions will be under the theme ‘The Paradox of Planning Implementation Across the Globe’, with sub-themes on Spatial Planning, Smart Cities, the 4th Industrial Revolution as well as Covid-19 and Urban Design.
 
Among international speakers to join in on the three-day event are experts from India, Poland, Slovenia, Russia, Romania, United Kingdom, Malawi, Kazakhstan and Greece.
 
Hosted in collaboration with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South African Council of Planners, South African Cities Network, South African Local Government Association, and the Municipal Institute of Learning, the event will also serve as a pre-congress event for the 56th ISOCARP Virtual World Planning Congress.
