ETHEKWINI NEWSFLASH
PUBLIC NOTICE
15 JANUARY 2025
Water restrictions from uMlazi system and central water network due to emergency repairs
Residents are informed of water restrictions in areas that are supplied from the Firwood, Northdene, Shallcross, Klaarwater, and Chatsworth 4 Reservoirs.
The restriction is due to emergency repairs that will be undertaken of the leaks on the 1000 diameter bulk steel pipeline on Alpine Drive, ranging from the Northdene Reservoir to the Chatsworth 1 Reservoir.
The pipeline will be isolated for the repairs to be undertaken tomorrow, 16 January from 6.30am into the afternoon. Water supply will be restricted during this period.
Though the pipeline is expected to be operational by Friday, 17 January, water is expected to be fully restored over the next seven days taking into consideration the water levels at the dependent reservoirs and the demand in each reservoir zone.
Residents are requested to always use water sparingly during this time.
Water tankers will be dispatched to affected communities.
