Vignette to Promote Durban as World Class Destination Launched

EThekwini Municipality together with Nkosinathi Maphumulo, popularly known as Black Coffee, launched the Durban Vignette on 23 June at Max’s Lifestyle in uMlazi.

The vignette/video showcases the journey of Black Coffee as well as unique spaces in the City to boost tourism for local and international
tourists.

It showcases historical and heritage sites, beachfront activities as well as coastal culinary and luxury. The vignette provides a pulsating experience of township tourism and culture while capturing the journey of homegrown talent.

The Durban Vignette launch was supported by local artists and tourism stakeholders.

Chairperson of the Community Services Committee Councillor Ntokozo Sibiya, delivering the keynote address on behalf of eThekwini Mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda, said: “Music and events have over the years proven to be among the biggest attractions for visitors. They help the City’s marketing initiatives. Research has shown that people travel to destinations because of certain events or to follow their favourite artist.”

The vignette launch comes on the heels of a national roadshow where Durban Tourism visited different provinces to market the City.

The Vodacom Durban July Grand Experience was also recently launched and will take place on 3 July.
