Update: Umlazi South Coast Bridge Repair
ETHEKWINI NEWSFLASH
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
16 FEBRUARY 2023
The City’s Water and Sanitation team is expediting repairs on the South Coast Bridge at the Umlaas Canal.
Fabrication of the tie-ins on the steel permanent pipeline is underway.
Teams are working round the clock to complete this pipeline which will restore water supply to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.
A temporary pipeline was completed over the weekend supplying uMlazi Mega City, Gleblelands, and surrounding areas with water.
The temporary pipeline currently presents a challenge as it is difficult for water to reach the hospital due to the hospital's elevated location.
In the meantime, the City continues to provide water tankers to the hospital.
Further updates will be communicated.
