TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP TAKES THE SPOTLIGHT AT CORPORATE AND HUMAN CAPITAL INDABA
A wave of innovation and strategic foresight swept through the annual Corporate and Human Capital Indaba on at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, as industry leaders, human capital professionals and organisational strategists gathered together.
The Indaba was held under the theme ‘Transformative Leadership for Organisational Excellence’ with a sharp focus on productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness, as the three pillars driving modern organisational success. These components empower employees to thrive and foster a culture of engagement and satisfaction.
Industry experts shared the stage, emphasising the importance of transformative leadership as being key to redefining organisational culture, empowering talent, and leveraging technology to unlock potential at every level.
Chairperson of the Governance and Human Capital Committee, Councillor Nkosenhle Madlala, said the engagement was crucial in shaping organisational culture as the Municipality moves towards making significant changes in human capital operations.
“Transformative leadership is no longer optional. It is the engine of sustainable growth to improve organisational performance,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of cultivating environments that prioritise workforce stability, the cornerstone for organisational success.
“As human capital practitioners, you shape the cultures that define our workplaces and contribute to positive employee experiences that promote long-term growth of the Municipality,” added Councillor Madlala.
He added that the human capital workforce is the bridge between vision and execution, and between strategy and people.
“You have the power to turn potential into performance, and it is this performance that improves the delivery of high-quality services to communities,” he added.
Speakers shared their insight and imparted knowledge on how leadership styles are evolving to meet the demands of evolving workforce dynamics that foster a culture of human capital excellence.
Acting Executive Manager of Productivity SA, Phila Ngcobo, said transformative leadership is more than managing policies or processes, but shaping mindsets.
“Productivity is no longer about doing more, but it’s about doing what matters most,” he said.
He highlighted actionable insights into how organisations can do more with less, without compromising quality or employee wellbeing.
“Organisational excellence begins with people. In order to deliver efficient services to communities, you need to prioritise and harness the full potential of your workforce by fostering productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness,” said Ngcobo.
