RESIDENTS URGED TO SWITCH OFF APPLIANCES TO AVOID OVERLOAD TRIPS
Eskom eased load shedding to stage 4 earlier today, 24 February, after a successful recovery of most of its downed units.
The City continues to urge residents to switch off all high-load appliances like geysers, stoves, heaters, air-conditioners and pool pumps during power outages and stagger switching them on once power returns.
This is especially critical in areas that suffer from frequent overload trips on return of power after load-shedding.
Everyone is urged to reduce unnecessary power consumption. The City’s Electricity Unit received an increased volume of faults throughout the weekend and its contact centre is experiencing longer call waiting times.
The City encourages residents to use the Unit’s digital fault reporting platforms.

New faults may also be logged via the City’s Mobile App. These user-friendly platforms provide an instant fault reference number upon submission of all required information.
