Re_ Refuse Collection Continues In Umlazi Township

29 January 2019

For Immediate Release

Re: Refuse Collection Continues In Umlazi Township

The second day of refuse collection in uMlazi and other affected areas continues today, 29/01/2019. The clearing of refuse backlog which started yesterday will continue until the normal refuse collection resumes.

Collection of refuse was disrupted two weeks ago in uMlazi, Chesterville and Mayville.

Escorted by Metro Police, Cleansing and Solid Waste (CSW) is currently utilising its internal resources and will today collect refuse in uMlazi AA, BB, V and F sections.

The City would like to appeal to residents to allow the collection of refuse to continue smoothly. This is after unknown groups interrupted and threatened teams assigned to eradicate refuse collection backlog in uMlazi yesterday.

We would like to thank affected residents for their patience during this time.

The City apologises for the inconvenience caused.

ENDS.
