Possible interruption of water supply for inner west areas

ETHEKWINI NEWSFLASH

13 SEPTEMBER 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

POSSIBLE INTERRUPTION OF WATER SUPPLY FOR INNER WEST AREAS

EThekwini Municipality wishes to inform residents of Pinetown and the surrounding areas about the possible water interruption for Mt Moriah Reservoir which will affect the supply of water in some of the areas in the Inner West of Durban.

Umngeni Water will undertake a second phase of the construction for the strategic tie-ins at its Durban Heights Treatment Works, which will affect incoming flow into Mt Moriah Reservoir that supplies water in the Inner West areas.

During this infrastructure development there will be zero water entering the reservoir, as such, downstream reservoirs will have limited system input volume.

The construction will take place on 15 September 2020 from 07:00am to 19:00pm.

The following areas might experience poor pressure or no water towards latter times of the shutdown period, amid the construction: Westville, Cowies Hill, Pinetown CBD, Sarnia, Ashley, Mosley Park, Paradise Valley, Nazareth, Caversham, Dawncliffe, Clermont, New Germany Industrial, parts of KwaDabeka.

EThekwini Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period, and requests residents to use water sparingly.

For more information and enquiries regarding water supply residents are urged to contact Call Centre number: 080 131 3013 or EWS WhatsApp number :073 1483 477
