Opportunities for Poultry Egg Producers

Egg producers in eThekwini are urged to register their businesses on the Agribusiness database to access market opportunities before 16 July.

This comes as the Cottonlands Egg Hub in Verulam is nearing completion.

The Cottonlands Egg Hub is a private- public partnership set to benefit local egg producers with market access through contract growing opportunities.

The project will produce 5 000 eggs per day during phase one and will soon expand to 80 000 eggs per day.

Interested businesses can send their registration with the following information via email to Nelisiwe.Gumede@durban.gov.za or

• Name and surname
• Email address
• Name of the enterprise, registration number and years in operation
• Indicate number of eggs produced daily
• Size of egg
• Ward number and name of area/region

The eThekwini Municipality’s Agri-Business Department will host regional roadshows after finalising the database to explain the project to egg producers.

For more information, businesses can contact Nelisiwe Gumede on 031 322 9268 or Fezile Doyisa on 031 322 5783
