NEWSFLASH 03 November 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Moses Mabhida Stadium to Host Health and Wellness Activities for the Public Moses Mabhida Stadium will tomorrow, 04 December 2020, host a Wellnesses Day that aims to inspire members of the public to live a healthy lifestyle and to raise awareness on the importance of health and wellness resources. As part of eThekwini Municipality’s IDP plan to become Africa’s most caring and liveable City by 2030, Moses Mabhida Stadium will be hosting a Wellness Day to promote a culture of physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing for the greater public by providing activities as well as support on the day that will result in healthier lifestyles. The programme with kick-off with an outdoor activation with a variety of health and wellness activities while ensuring strict adherence of COVID-19 protocols. Activities will include health screening such as medical male circumcision, blood donation, cancer and COVID-19 screening. The programme will be held in partnership will various stakeholders including stadium tenants who will offer outdoor fitness classes, pop-up shops selling food and beverages, financial education, a stadium tour, Ricksha bus tour and Ushaka Marine World Mascot appearance. Head of Stadia and Facilities Unit Management Vusi Mazibuko said whilst the country is facing a rise in COVID-19 cases, this wellness programme comes at a right time because health facilities are under strain as a result of the pandemic. Through this Wellness Day, health services are brought directly to members of the public. “The programme will equip individuals to maintain healthy lifestyles even during the festive season where we witness a lot unhealthy eating, substance abuse as well as overspending. Furthermore, the programme will provide Moses Mabhida Stadium the platform to disseminate information and showcase it products and services,” elaborated Mazibuko. The programme is free and open to the public with compliance to COVID-19 safety protocols. Members of the media are invited to the Wellness Day; details are as follows:
