Media Invite: Empowerment Programme to Uplift People Living With Disabilities
The Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu (INK) Area Based Management (ABM) Department is partnering with Valhalla Arts to host the Disability Economic Empowerment Programme (DEEP) during their quarterly stakeholder forum meeting.
INK Stakeholder Forum is a multi-stakeholder community engagement platform between government departments, agencies, local businesses and local organizations that aims to connect and broker partnerships. The objective of the 3rd quarterly forum is to promote the inclusion of people living with disabilities in the mainstream economy and empower them to realise their potential.
The DEEP initiative, initiated by Valhalla Arts in 2009, encourages the involvement of people with disabilities in ensuring that their needs are identified, prioritized and met in the design, implementation and evaluation of various community development programmes and policy initiatives that are rolled-out for their betterment.
The DEEP Expo showcases initiatives ranging from employment opportunities, skills training and finance for further education, arts, literature, sports and self-empowerment avenues that are available for people with disabilities to access.
