MAYOR XABA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO A CUSTOMER-CENTRED ETHEKWINI
EThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba has reaffirmed the City’s commitment to building a caring, responsive, and customer-centric Municipality that listens, cares, and delivers.
Mayor Xaba emphasised this renewed dedication during the 4th Annual Mayoral Customer Service Lecture, one of the City’s flagship platforms for strengthening service excellence, innovation, and people-centred governance.
The lecture brought together Municipal leadership, industry partners, frontline staff, and other key stakeholders united in the mission to enhance the quality, accessibility, and reliability of services across eThekwini.
Reflecting on his upbringing in the township of Clermont, Mayor Xaba recalled a time when Municipal service vehicles were a visible daily reminder of a City that delivered.
He emphasised that this legacy must not only be restored but protected.
“As a City, we are in the business of rendering services to our people. Every month, I want to see how directorates are spending money and how that expenditure directly improves customer experience. A happy customer is a paying customer, and a paying customer sustains the City,”said Mayor Xaba.
He encouraged the City’s leadership and staff to lead by example and embody the values of excellence, discipline, and care.
“Let our performance be our mirror. Let us demonstrate that excellence, discipline, and care are not just policies, but everyday practices. As leaders and public servants, we must model the values we wish to see. Customer service is the foundation of good governance. Every act of service, no matter how small, helps restore public trust and builds a more united, caring, and effective City,” said the Mayor.
