Mayor Sends her Condolences to Cambridge City
Mayor Zandile Gumede of the City of Durban sends her deepest condolences to the City of Cambridge in the UK, after the sad passing of Mayor Nigel Gawthrope on Friday, 11 January 2019 while scuba diving Durban.
“We are saddened by the news of the passing of Mayor Gawthrope who was on holiday in Durban with his family. We pass our condolences to his family, Council of Cambridge and people of the City. We wish them strength and comfort as they go through this difficult period. We will keep them in our prayers,” said Mayor Gumede.
The City of Durban enjoys good relations with a number of international cities and continues to be a growing brand due to its numerous tourist attractions. Recently, Durban was listed as one of the top 19 must see destinations for 2019 by British Airways. Mayor Zandile Gumede was also honoured with the Dr Benjamin Barber Global Cities Award in the UK for her community work, which is beyond the call of duty.
