Mayor Kaunda Calls for Tolerance in Tomorrow’s By-Election
ETHEKWINI NEWSFLASH
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
01 FEBRUARY 2022
EThekwini Mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda has called on residents of ward 101 to go out in their numbers to exercise their democratic right to vote during the by-election tomorrow, 2 February.
He said the City leadership calls for calm and tolerance among all political parties that will be contesting the by-election.
This will allow residents to vote for a councillor of their choice. Ward 101 covers areas such as Berea, Glenmore, and Cato Crest.
The by-election was occasioned by the passing away of an ANC ward councillor candidate, Siyabonga Mkhize.
“We are confident that the measures implemented by the Independent Electoral Commission and government will guarantee safe, free, and fair elections. Ward 101 is one of most the vast and densely populated areas in eThekwini and we expect the newly elected councillor to hit the ground running to deliver quality services to the community,” said Mayor Kaunda.
