KZN’S Road Incident Management System Simulated Exercise
The National Technical Road Incident Management Systems will from 23-24 May 2019 hold its committee meeting in eThekwini.
Prior to the sitting of the national committee, the eThekwini’s Road Incident Management Systems (RIMS) in partnership with the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) and all other stakeholders will stage a night emergency simulation exercise.
The simulation exercise of road emergency services and rescue is planned to be held on Thursday, 23 May 2019 from 17:30 to 19:30.
The aim of the simulated exercise is for the Road Incident Management System partners to demonstrate the work they do, under the scrutiny of the Technical committee members.
Protest action and a hostage situation including a Cash In Transit Van will be staged for the purpose of demonstration and training for the local emergency services.
The purpose is to raise awareness and education amongst members of the media and the community at large as to what really happens in accident situations where multiple emergency medical, fire and rescue as well as road traffic management, and law enforcement agencies collaborate.
Members of the media are invited to witness the demonstration planned as follows:
Date: 23 May 2019 Venue: Corner of Sandile Thusi & Sylvester Ntuli Time: 17h30
Stakeholders who will form part of the simulated exercise will be showcasing and testing their efficiencies and state of readiness of their skills and equipment so that they may be able to efficiently respond whenever they may be required in real life emergency situations ENDS.
