EThekwini Municipality wishes to inform residents of Western and Southern areas of Durban about the interruption of water in some areas of these two Regions. The interruption will affect the supply of water in particular areas in the South and West of Durban.

The Municipality has encountered technical challenges with regards to the operations of Northdene 3 pump station. It was discovered that all three available pumps at Northdene 3 pump station have failed resulting in no water being pumped to all downstream reservoirs.

 Birch Road
 St Wendolins Pumps
 Washington Heights and
 Intake road reservoirs

Processes to procure the required equipment to fix these pump stations is currently underway, however, the lead time to commence with repair work at the pump station is 3 to 4 weeks.

Subsequently, the following areas will experience prolonged water supply outages until the pump station is repaired:

Klaarwater, Shallcross, Parts of Chatsworth, Savanah Park, Welbedatch East & West, Montford, Risecliff, Arean Park, Moorton, Crossmoor, Woodhurst, St Wendolins, Luganda, Demat, Parts of Marianridge, Parts of Queensburgh, Nirvana Hills, Enkoseleni and Mawelele.
Water tankers are currently being mobilised to supply water to all affected areas.

The Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period.
