Extension for The Validity Period of Licenses and Permits Required in Terms of NRTA, Act 93 Of 1996 and The National Road Traffic Regulations 2000
Kindly be advised that says that according to the Government Gazette, 43958, all learner's licences, driving licence cards, temporary driving licences and professional driving permits that expired during the period that commenced from 26 March 2020 up to and including 31 December 2020 are deemed to be valid and their validity periods are extended for a further grace period ending on 31 August 2021.
Metro Police, Senior Supt Parboo Sewpersad explained that is extension does not apply to motor vehicle licence discs and registrations. “There has been some confusion amongst the public about these extensions that were granted for the driver licence card extensions,” said Sewpersad.
“This extension does not apply to motor vehicle licence disc and registrations. The period of vehicle license discs which expired on the 31 March 2020, 30 April 2020 and 31 May 2020 were extended to 31 August 2020. Qualifying registered owners had up to and including 21 September 2020, to renew their expired vehicle license discs. No further extensions were granted.”
