6 MARCH 2025

ETHEKWINI TO HONOUR THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF FURNITURE MANUFACTURING TRAINEES

Members of the media are cordially invited to join the celebration of the remarkable achievements of the Class of 2024 in the Furniture Manufacturing Skills Development Training Programme.

The graduation will be held tomorrow, 7 March, at the Umkhumbane Entrepreneurial Support Centre.

The graduation ceremony marks the successful completion of a transformative and intensive training programme by 60 trainees, who will receive their South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)-accredited NQF Level 2 certificates in Furniture Making.

The programme has equipped participants with essential skills to create various types of furniture, empowering them with both technical expertise and entrepreneurial capabilities.

The Furniture Manufacturing Skills Development Training Programme is a key partnership between eThekwini Municipality, the Fibre Processing and Manufacturing Sector Education and Training Authority, and My Space Academy.

Since its establishment in 2019, the programme has been dedicated to combating unemployment by offering both three months and one year training courses.

Over 235 trainees have benefited from this initiative, gaining vital skills in furniture design and manufacturing, and many success stories have emerged as a result.

Members of the media are invited to attend and profile the newly trained graduates, many of whom will be exhibiting their innovative furniture creations at the graduation ceremony.
