ETHEKWINI ELECTRICITY RESPONDS TO OUTAGES FOLLOWING HEAVY RAINS
EThekwini Municipality’s Electricity Unit acknowledges the significant disruption to power supply experienced across several areas of the City following last night’s heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding.
The adverse weather conditions have resulted in a large number of outages, particularly affecting regions in the southern and northern parts of Durban.
The most impacted areas include Phoenix Industrial, Engonyameni, Southridge, uMlazi, Folweni, Isiphingo, Bayview, Warner Beach, Ohlange, Umzinyathi, and various other surrounding neighbourhoods.
Teams have been mobilised and dispatched to assess and address the outages; however, the flooding aftermath and its impact on infrastructure will see restoration efforts taking longer than usual.
We kindly request patience from residents as our teams work diligently to repair the damage. The Municipality offers multiple electricity fault reporting platforms which residents are encouraged to use to report power outages, including the following:
