FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EThekwini Transport Authority to Launch A Programme to Sanitize Public Transport

In its quest to limit the spread of coronavirus, the City’s eThekwini Transport Authority (ETA) in partnership with the eThekwini Metro Taxi Council (EMTC) and South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) will on Friday, 29 January 2021 launch a public transport sanitation programme.

The programme is part of government’s relentless efforts to lower the rate of infection as the City remains the epicentre of Covid-19 in the province.

The public transport services approximately 65 percent of the Durban population, this making both members of the transport industry and consumers vulnerable to Covid-19.

The launch activities will be led by the Chairperson of the Human Settlements and Infrastructure Committee Cllr Thanduxolo Sabelo who will also hand over starter kit to representatives of the taxi and bus industry.

Members of the media are invited to witness the launch of the programme

Date: Friday, 29 January 2021
Venue: Chesterville taxi rank
Time: 10:30 am

Alternatively, launch activities can be viewed on the Go! Durban social media pages on twitter @Go_Durban and Facebook @GoDurban
For media enquiries contact eThekwini Municipality Spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela 060 966 4220.
