ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY WATER IS OF GOOD QUALITY AND SAFE
EThekwini Municipality has noted with concern misinformation on social media about alleged poor quality of the water provided by the City.
EThekwini and UMgeni Water confirm that the quality of water provided by the City continues to be of good quality and is safe to drink.
The bulk drinking water is monitored daily by experts from uMgeni Water and weekly by eThekwini Municipality according to International Standard Organisation 17025 accredited laboratories.
Water at distribution points is tested fortnightly as per the South African National Standard 241 for drinking water requirements. Filling points where the water tankers draw water from are also monitored as required.
With the recent developments following flooding in the City, more water tankers have been tested to ensure water supplied to communities is of a high standard.
