EThekwini Municipality Condemns Acts Of Violence Linked To Kwamashu Hostel Protests

EThekwini Municipality appeals for calm following protests related to electrical faults at KwaMashu Hostel.
Illegal connections as well as impacts of load shedding are two of the biggest causes of the faults experienced in that area.
The Municipality was in the process of emergency procurement when the protests erupted.
The city can confirm that a team has been dispatched to effect repairs. It will work through the weekend to expedite repairs. Unfortunately, their progress is being hampered by the volatile situation in that area.
The municipality condemns acts of violence and intimidation related to this protest.
