EThekwini Municipality Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda will tomorrow hand over a major informal trading centre project to boost informal and township economy in Umlazi, south of Durban.

 

The Ezimbuzini Informal Trading Centre is the first of its kind in the city to house and formalize traders within the sector. The project will also change the current trading conditions of local entrepreneurs, create more value chain business opportunities within the local area. It will also create a link between established corporate enterprise and existing small and micro enterprise.

 

Mayor Kaunda will also assess the recently completed KwaMnyandu Light Industrial Park which will assist informal businesses operating in residential back yards and illegally occupied vacant land. The businesses render services such as steel welding, vehicle repairs and carpentry.
