EThekwini Leaders Assess Damage To Dakota Informal Settlement

EThekwini Speaker Councillor Thabani Nyawose together with local councillors today visited Dakota informal settlement that was ravaged by fire last night.
He was part of a delegation assessing the extent of damage to about 500 informal dwellings.
Tents and ablution facilities have been erected while families wait for building materials to be distributed this week.
Speaker Nyawose pleaded for patience while disaster teams are working on verification for the victims. He thanked organisations that are assisting with the provision of hot meals, toiletries and other necessities.
Councillor Nyawose said the Municipality's plan is to relocate residents of Dakota informal settlement to a better and safer location.
