ETHEKWINI CELEBRATES WORLD CITIES DAY

Members of the media are invited to attend an engagement in celebration of World Cities Day on 31 October. 

The theme for this year is ‘People-Centred Smart Cities’, highlights the role of technology and data in enhancing urban governance and improving the quality of life. 

The theme is in alignment with eThekwini Municipality’s commitment to sustainable, future-oriented development.

Key stakeholders, including business and academia and Non-Governmental Organisations with a particular focus on the youth will participate in a dialogue exploring advancements in creating a Data-Driven Smart City and Transformative Governance for a Sustainable and Resilient City. 

World Cities Day forms part of the United Nations Urban October initiative, which was established in 2013 to promote global dialogue on sustainable urban development. 

The month-long observance culminates in World Cities Day on 31 October.
