Durban Film Office And SABC Join Forces to Empower Durban Business Fair Attendees

To position Durban as a world-class film production destination and to develop the local film industry, the City’s Durban Film Office has joined forces with public broadcaster SABC to host the video entertainment information sharing session at the Durban Business Fair.
 
The session will be held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre Hall 2 on Friday, 23 September at 2pm. The session is one of several seminars taking place to empower businesses owners attending the Durban Business Fair which is being held under the theme ‘Connecting Durban businesses to opportunities’. 
 
The session also forms part of the SABC’s ongoing provincial roadshows aimed at engaging the creative industry about the public broadcaster’s content strategies.
 
Television production companies, independent producers, and creatives are invited to attend this session.
 
The film development programme will continue on Sunday, 25 September with a masterclass covering various topics.

Meanwhile, on 23 and 24 September, the creative industry dialogue will host a panel discussion where individual presentations will address key and pressing issues for the creative sector themed ‘Empowering the creative sector for artistic growth and a vibrant local economy’. Topics to be discussed include protecting the work of artists – intellectual property, compliance matters, and the rights of artists.
 
Another discussion will include a panel session on access to government interventions for artists, overcoming gatekeepers as well as challenges and opportunities for artists in the creative sector. Prominent artists such as DJ Tira, DJ Sox, Mondli Ngcobo, event organiser Kgolo Mthembu, and radio personality T-bo Touch will be on the panel.
 
Brand positioning, sponsorship, proper targeting, and creating relevant content will form part of the discussions. Ram Biyela from Standard Bank will lead a financial literacy corner talking on the music business and money management.
