Drowning at Isiphingo Beach

The eThekwini Municipality wishes to confirm the drowning incident that claimed the lives of two people at Isiphingo Beach earlier today, 12/02/2019.

Reports indicate that at approximately 14h45 lifeguards from Isiphingo Beach received notification of three males who had been washed out to sea at Tiger Rocks Beach, a non-bathing beach.

Acting Head of Communication Mandla Nsele said that upon receiving notification lifeguards rushed to the scene and were able to rescue three males who had been washed into the sea while bathing at the beach.

“CPR was performed on them. Unfortunately, two were declared deceased on scene. One was airlifted to Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital. He is currently in a stable condition. The matter has been handed over to the SAPS for further investigation,” said Nsele.

The Municipality further wishes to remind bathers not to swim at non-bathing beaches or non-designated areas as that is dangerous and prohibited.
