Country’s Oldest Tortoise Turns 109 Years Today
 
The Durban’s living legend and the country’s oldest tortoise Admiral turns 109 years today, 24 September.
 
The country’s oldest citizen arrived in Durban in 1915, after he was dropped off at what is now known as the Mitchell Park Zoo in cigarette box by the naval officer that was leaving for the World War I but he never came back.
 
The Municipality and the eThekwini residents will celebrate 109 years of his life with a fitting birthday celebration and gifts in a form of fruits and vegetables for Admiral are welcome.
 
Members of the media are welcome to join in on the celebration and enjoy a slice of cake or two.
