CITY STRENGTHENS SERVICE DELIVERY WITH NEW HORTICULTURAL EQUIPMENT AND DISPLAY HOUSE
The City is intensifying efforts to keep public spaces green, clean, and environmentally friendly.
In line with this commitment, eThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba will tomorrow, 7 November, officially unveil more than 800 new horticultural plant and maintenance equipment.
Valued at approximately R25 million, the new equipment includes 750 brush-cutters, 110 chainsaws, 110 pole pruners, 85 hedge trimmers, 20 tractors, and 2 skid steers.
This investment will bolster the Municipal workforce, enabling faster and more efficient grass-cutting and landscaping services in parks, cemeteries, and along roadways to enhance the City’s appearance.
Mayor Xaba will also launch the newly built R500 000 tropical display house, which houses a special orchid collection.
Installed by the Recreation and Parks Directorate in partnership with the Durban Botanic Gardens Trust, the tropical display house is among the largest in KwaZulu-Natal.
