City Rolls Out Sundry Grant-In-Aid for 2018/2019

EThekwini Municipality is embarking on the roll out of the Sundry Grant-in-Aid Programme which provides financial and material support to civil society organisations that seek support for initiating and sustaining socio-economic, cultural and sporting development programmes especially from previously disadvantaged communities. This forms part of the Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan and social investment.

A total of 161 beneficiaries stand to benefit from cheques of between R30 000 and R40 000 so that they can be able to address the prevailing social and economic inequalities in their communities. The Grant-In-Aid programme does not only provide financial and material support to organisations, but it also capacitates and provides skills, knowledge and tools for them to undertake their work effectively and ensure that they are in line with the industry norms and standards. Emphasis is placed on supporting organisations from poor communities focusing on groups such as children, youth, women, the elderly and people with disabilities.
