The City’s Invest Durban Unit is ready to host the 2nd annual Township and Rural Investment Summit on Wednesday, 14 September.

The summit forms an integral part of the City’s Economic Recovery Plan to further the investment promotion in townships and rural areas. The summit is envisioned to potentially unlock economic opportunities and respond to the triple challenges of poverty, inequality, and unemployment.

Areas of focus include creating a conducive environment for investment in township and rural areas, improving safety and security, and developing infrastructure to stimulate area-based economy.

This high-profile event includes a keynote address by His Majesty King Misuzulu Ka Zwelithini, as well as addresses by the MEC of Agriculture and Rural Development in KwaZulu-Natal Bongiwe Sithole and motivational speaker and businessman G.G Alcock.

Plenary sessions will be attended by representatives from the Ingonyama Trust Board, the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the KZN Growth Fund, and the Fundamentum: Outer West Development.
