27 FEBRUARY 2020

The auditions for eThekwini Municipality’s Gospel Icon Discovery Talent Search are progressing smoothly as planned. Thanks to the impressive turnout of participants who aspire to become the next gospel icon.

This year’s edition will be broadcast on DSTV’s popular gospel channel “One Gospel” on channel 331. The host will be charismatic and award-winning gospel superstar, Ayanda Ntanzi.

This scouting programme is the brainchild of Parks, Recreation and Culture Unit. Its intention is to unearth raw talents and nurture artists who aspire to launch a gospel musical career.

The auditions are drawing to a close with only four venues left. These include Hambanathi on 28 February, KwaXimba Hall on 29 February, Hammersdale Hall on 06 March and the last audition is due to take place 7 March at Stable Hall.

The first prize is worth R 100 000 all-inclusive of the recording deal, while the second place is a whopping R20 000 and the third winner will be walking away with R10 000.

The competition has three categories, that is Junior for children between 8 - 14 years, the second one includes soloists and duets from 15 – 35 years and the third segment is for groups of not more than 15 members for all ages.
