Agri-Business Small Scale Poultry Farmers to Graduate

Agri-Business Small Scale Poultry Farmers to Graduate
 
Over the past few days, our small scale poultry farmers within the eThekwini area have undergone an intensive learning programme, to help them grow their own agricultural businesses. The training was held as part of the Municipality’s quest to aggressively advance the agenda of Radical Agrarian Socio-Economic Transformation Programme (RASET).
 
Agri-Business Deputy Head, Vuyo Jayiya said the intention of the programme was to equip the emerging farmers with knowledge to participate in the mainstream economy.
 
The attendees received training on financial management, marketing, poultry processing and the funding models available.
 
“The demand for poultry products is steadily rising, our main purpose is to equip the farmers with information and impart technical skills that will help them to access market. We want them to have skills in agri-processing as opposed to selling their products raw as they are. This we believe is going to enable them to rake in considerable revenue,” said Jayiya.
