ANC, BLF and EFF to Debate Land Question at Articulate Africa Book and Art Fair

ANC, BLF and EFF to Debate Land Question at Articulate Africa Book & Art Fair

In a debate that is expected to be the most intense on day two of Articulate Africa Book and Art Fair, ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member Senzo Mchunu, Economic Freedom Fighters Provincial Chairperson, Vusi Khoza, President of Black First Land First Andile Mngxitama, Professor Bheki Mngomezulu and young famer Ayanda Zulu, will square up to debate the land question in the country.

The much anticipated debate will take place on Friday, 12 April 2019 at the Durban Exhibition Centre. The debate will be based on Advocate Thembeka Ngcukaitobi’s book, the Land is Ours, which tells a story of three black lawyers who during the error of aggressive colonial expansion, land dispossession they were forced labourers. As they believed in a constitutional system that respected individual rights and freedoms, they then used the law as an instrument against the injustices of colonialism.

Furthermore, the discussion is expected to highlight the national mode of analysis, specifically defining what is meant by the land question. Thereafter, the debate will then delve deep into the efficacy of previous government policy, programs and mechanism to bring about redress.

From the land question, the focus will then shift to as seminar that will debate about the atrocities committed pre -1994. This seminar is titled “Let’s talk about the truth” and it will be based on a book written Chris Steyn titled the Lost boys of Bird Island.

To take part as panellists in this seminar is former Judge on the Constitutional Court of South Africa Judge Albie Sachs, author The Other Side of Freedom Mojalefa Dipholo, and Terry Bell author of Unfinished business – South Africa, Apartheid, and the Truth.

Members of the media are invited to come and cover the event, invitation is limited to two people per publication, a journalist and a photographer.
