Frequently Asked Question

As a coastal City, subject to high rainfall and flooding, the City’s storm water network is crucial to protecting public and private infrastructure and, at times of high rainfall and flooding, the lives of citizens in the City. The City spends approximately R 40 million annually on delivery of stormwater services, and catchment and coastal management. The coastal and beach management services are critical both environmentally and to support the City’s tourism sector.

The city urges the public to ensure that our storm water drains are kept clean and free of debris to prevent flooding during heavy rains.

  • Throw your litter in a bin, no matter how small
  • Stop illegal dumping
  • Ensure that chemicals, oil and fatty substances are not poured down the drain.
