Mayor Xaba, Private Sector Launch Massive Logistics Hub In Cato Ridge

EThekwini Municipality Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, joined the leadership of the provincial government and the private sector to launch another groundbreaking development in Cato Ridge - the Nsimbi Ridge Development. This project forms part of the R10 billion Cato Ridge Development, which aims to establish a logistics hub and dry port to decongest and enhance the efficiency of the Port of Durban.

Billed as an intermodal logistics precinct, the development is expected to create approximately 5 000 jobs during the construction phase and 10 000 jobs upon completion. It will also help realise the long-held vision of shifting freight movement from road to rail.

The launch was attended by the KZN MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Rev. Musa Zondi, Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee, Cllr Thembo Ntuli, and the City Manager, Musa Mbhele.
