The eThekwini Municipality in collaboration with the KwaZulu-Natal Society for the Blind commemorated the International White Cane Safety Day at Magabheni Community Hall today, 15 October.
Celebrated under the theme "Promoting Inclusion: Celebrating Abilities and Advocating Access for All," the event featured activities aimed at raising awareness and fostering respect for white cane users. The day began with a demonstration at the Magabheni Taxi Rank, where taxi drivers received education on the importance of accommodating and respecting white cane users on the roads. This was followed by a march to raise awareness about the White Cane, culminating at the Magabheni Community Hall.
