Ward 60 Councillor Fakazi Mdletshe inspects the completed repair work at the Himalaya bridge in Verulam.
THERE is good news for motorists using the Himalaya Road. Repairs to the bridge on the road have been completed after damage caused by the April floods. The repairs to the bridge will ensure the safe travel of residents and allow them to access services such as schools and clinics.
Ward 60 Councillor Fakazi Mdletshe said work on repairing damage caused by the floods was progressing well in the ward. “We have a number of roads and bridges that were washed away and need to be fixed. The Himalaya bridge is one of many requiring repairs.” However, he is happy with the progress of repair work currently underway at various sites in the ward.
This includes rebuilding retaining walls and the installation of gabions on roads, said Councillor Mdletshe. He thanked residents for their patience while the repair work is being carried out.
