Beaches - Water Quality and Facilities Home Page

With more than 100 kilometers of coastline, the eThekwini (Durban) region offers beaches for everybody’s taste, whether your ideal beach is bustling with activities or quiet and secluded we have the beach to suit your needs!

The following tables provide you with information that is updated on a weekly basis. It is intended to enable you to make choices and gives details of the facilities at each beach along our part of the coastline, as well as indicators of beach cleanliness and water quality. Samples are taken on a weekly basis. Target values and status assessments are in line with international beach quality standards. Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Enterococcus are indicators of faecal contamination from humans and other warm blooded animals.

These beaches form part of the main beachfront area. They stretch from Blue Lagoon in the north all the way to Addington in the south.
