Dalton Precinct Redevelopment Plan Unveiled06 May, 2008 As part of its stakeholder engagement exercise, the South Durban Basin Area Based Management Team through the Business Retention and Expansion Programme organised a Seminar to unveil projects being implemented and those that are in the pipeline, which form part of the broader Dalton Precinct Redevelopment Plan. The SDB Team drives this initiative with the support from the Provincial Department of Economic Development and eThekwini Municipality’s line departments. Eurakha Singh, SDB Social Development Manager said “in order to develop social conditions of our people in a holistic manner we need to upgrade and improve the surrounding precinct. She said projects that are currently being implemented include the installation of the Close Circuit Television (CCTV), pavement and intersection upgrade as well as Beer Hall Redevelopment. The proper regeneration of the Dalton Precinct requires that all issues relating to social, economic and environment are addressed”, added Singh. The BR&E Programme is a partnership between the SDB Team, Durban Investment Promotions Agency and the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Team will continue to host these monthly seminars in order for the city management to engage more closely with the businesses of the South Durban Basin. Any business that falls within the South Durban Basin area is invited to attend these seminars, and is also invited to become part of the networking process.
