Story Written By Mack Makhatini The City’s Sizakala Customer Centres and customer care policy were officially launched at Umlazi Mega City this week. The centres, which have already been established at convenient locations across the city, are a one-stop facility where residents can pay City bills, query account and access municipal services.The policy sets out the correct way for City staff to treat the public and explain show this will be monitored. Council Speaker James Nxumalo told guests at the launch that city staff should treat citizens with dignity. “We came here to explain the Sizakala Centres and hope that when you enter these premises you will be treated with respect and receive the help that you request,” he said. Deputy Mayor Logie Naidoo announced that eThekwini had been declared the cleanest city in South Africa, winning the Metro category of the annual Cleanest Town competition. The national Head of the Batho Pele (People First) campaign, Dick Vuma, acknowledged the good work done by the Council. “Your wisdom has guided you to launch your customer care policy during national Public Service week,” said Vuma.
