Fascinating talks include:
Geologist, Prof Mike Watkeys looks at the causes of climate change and the current phase of global warming. Climate change in the past has been a major driving force in evolution, using the emergence of Humans as an example. One study claims that not just relatively recent industrialisation has been a cause but also the change from hunter-gatherer to agriculture in the past 10 000 years may also have contributed.
Logan Govender takes the mystery out of the subject of Astronomy, usually viewed as an activity in which only scientists and academics are involved. Using no scientific jargon or advanced astronomic terms, anyone with no more visual aid than good eyes can identify at least 200 objects in the Autumn skies as a platform to a more detailed study. This presentation is designed to show the beauty of the stars, nebulae and constellations that any one can see if they knew where to look. Tickets: adults R40; seniors and students R30; Friends & school learners R25; children under 6 free.
