Traffic Engineering

The Traffic Engineering Branch is responsible for developing proposals for all short, medium and long term road improvements in the City. These improvements range from minor intersection upgrades to major road proposals. Specialised software including SATURN, AIMSUN and SIDRA are used to ensure optimum design proposals. The design of public transport facilities rests with this Branch. The Branch also designs and implements traffic calming measures in the City.

In addition the Branch provides an advisory service to the other Departments within the Municipality and the public on traffic and transportation related issues. It is also the approving authority of all traffic related matters, eg. Traffic Impact Assessments/Statements.
