Ethekwini Municipality transport system in  danger of serious decline for the following reasons:   

  • Major under investment over the years (particularly rail);
  • Poor levels of service;
  • Lack of integration between modes;
  • Rising subsidy requirements;
  • Wasteful competition;
  • Inefficient transport networks - less than optimim use of subsidies;
  • Lack of proper enforcement.
