Project Management UnitThe Project Management Unit (PMU) provides the appropriate guidance and expertise in terms of project and programme management of the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG). MIG is a national government initiative to provide conditional grant finance aimed at covering the capital cost of basic infrastructure for the poorest of the poor. National Government is committed to eradicating basic municipal service backlogs by the year 2013. The PMU is responsible for the overall co-ordination of the EPWP for the city including the management and mentorship of the emerging contractor learnerships. An EPWP steering committee has been established to facilitate the co-ordination process and is fully representative of all clusters. The PMU is responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the programme including the reporting to the Department of Public Works in terms of specific Key Performance Indicators.
