Informal Economy tour

Media invite

The Provincial MEC of Finance and Economic Development, Dr Zweli Mkhize and Mayor Obed Mlaba will be going on a tour of the key informal trading areas in the Durban CBD. These include West Street, Russell Street, Muthi Market and Warwick Junction. The purpose of the visit is to meet with informal traders and get first hand information on their challenges. The visit follows the recent protests by informal traders in the eThekwini area.


The media are invited to accompany the MEC and Mayor on their site visit, after which a media briefing will be held at the Warwick Junction Project Centre.


Date: 4 September, 2007
