DSW REFUSING TO SUFFER ANY HARM THIS FESTIVE SEASON05 March, 2005 17:00 PRESS RELEASE Ethekwini Municipality's major solid waste management department, Durban Solid Waste (DSW), is appealing to householders to ensure a secure working environment for its staff members. In the past years refuse collectors have been exposed to injuries during their daily refuse collection. To ensure that a professional service is maintained at all times, DSW encourages residents to follow the correct procedures for the disposal of glass this busy season as DSW refuse collectors can suffer a nasty injury. In order to reduce the chance of any injuries DSW appeals to residents to consider not throwing glass away with their household refuse but to send it for recycling or alternatively take the precaution of wrapping any glass in newspaper before disposing of it in refuse bags. DSW is also appealing to residents to keep their dogs within the boundaries of their fenced property to prevent DSW staff working in the area from being bitten. DSW continues to strive to be the best in solid waste management, for additional information, please phone DSW Helpline on (031) 302 4804. Ends.
