The Mayor of Guangzhou is Mr. ZHANG Guangning. Guangzhou is nicknamed "the Ram City". 

The huge city of Guangzhou is home to more than 10 million people. It is the centre of international trade and economic development in South China, ranking third in the country in terms of economic strength. Like Durban, it also has a bustling port.

Appropriately dubbed the 'City of Flowers,' Guangzhou's sultry, sub-tropical climate ensures that flowers bloom in profusion all year round.

The biannual Chinese Export Commodities Fair is an important feature on the city's economic landscape. Science and technology, administration, trade, and tourism are Guangzhou's particular strengths, and Durban has benefited greatly by her association with the city.

In this instance, Durban's relationship is not an exclusive one, however, Guangzhou has also entered into sister city agreements with 13 other cities, amongst which are Vancouver, Frankfurt and Sydney.
