School Soccer Lads Do Durban Proud02 July, 2009
WINNERS: Mayor Obed Mlaba (centre) congratulates Inkonkoni under-14 Coach Nomusa Mpanza (left) and Principal Simphiwe Mkhize By Themba Khumalo South African Confederations Cup under-14 champions, Inkonkoni Senior Primary School, were honoured at a mayoral civic reception at the City Hall recently. “It is a great privilege for us to host you as our champions. You have made the City and KwaZulu-Natal proud,” said Mayor Obed Mlaba. Mlaba urged other schools to emulate Inkonkoni’s achievements. “We thank you for a job well done under dire circumstances. There were no proper facilities, yet you did not let that stop you.” The school won the tournament in Johannesburg in May after wrapping up the district and regional tournaments. Coach Nomusa Mpanza said: “We are grateful to be honoured in this fashion. Credit also goes to my school for all the support they gave the boys and me.
