Science

"It should not be believed that all beings exist for the sake of the existence of man. On the contrary, all the other beings too have been intended for their own sakes and not for the sake of something else." Maimonides, The Guide for the Perplexed 1:72, c. 1190

Welcome to the busiest non-commercial science centre in Africa!

In Zulu "KwaZuzulwazi" means "place of enriching knowledge"

The KwaZuzulwazi Network of Science Centres is designed to complement the school curriculum, train science multipliers (Educators, Educator trainers), and empower people by increasing their skills and their understanding of science.

The objectives of the KwaZuzulwazi Science Centre network are:

  • Building human capital in the Natural Sciences - Building human capital requires learners to become interested in the Natural Sciences as a career, which relies equally on formal and informal forms of education.
  • To make it easy for schools to access museum resources
  • To train the multipliers (Educators etc.) - Natural Science Educators’ forums are being established to address the teaching needs of the educators / schools;
  • To promote careers in the natural science learning area;
  • To assist educators in the application of Outcomes Based Education (OBE), through hands-on activities.

Currently we have nine facilities in our network, with 5 of these being upgraded presently.
